The Immersion
Before the opening. Before the varnish dries. Before the first stranger walks in.
We arrange access to the work at the moment when access is least available — when it is most itself. A gallery the night before the public arrives. A studio when the painter is still in it. A collection that has never been shown outside a private house.
A curator we trust walks the room with us. No phones, because phones change the room.
Eighteen guests. Ninety minutes. The kind of attention that is only possible when the work has not yet been made ordinary by familiarity.
